Active Schools Week 2025 – A Celebration of Fun, Fitness and Team Spirit!
We had an unforgettable Active Schools Week 2025, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and sunshine! Each class enjoyed their own individual sports day, featuring classic favourites like the potato and spoon race, three-legged race, tug of war, wheelbarrow race, and much more.
Our fantastic Active Schools Committee and sixth class students were instrumental in helping to organise and run events, offering great support and leadership throughout the week—especially to our younger pupils.
A special highlight was our cycling workshop with Róisín Hickey, where students developed important cycling skills in a fun and engaging environment.
We were also thrilled to undergo our Active Schools assessment, and we’re proud to announce that we were awarded our new Active Schools Flag—a wonderful recognition of our school’s commitment to keeping active and healthy.
Another major highlight was the finals of our hurling and camogie leagues, with students showing incredible skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The matches were full of excitement and cheered on by their classmates.
To end the week on a high, the entire school came together for a whole-school sports day on Friday, with events including sprints, long-distance races, relays, and the always-popular long puck competition.
And to top it all off? A visit from the ice-cream van, which was the perfect treat in the warm summer sunshine!
A huge well done to all staff and students for making our school such a fun, active, and inclusive place to be. Roll on next year!
